Rib knit fabric is constructed with alternating knit and purl wales, creating raised vertical ribs and recessed channels. This structure gives the fabric strong crosswise stretch and good recovery, which is why it is widely used for neckbands, cuffs, waistbands, and fitted tops in casualwear and activewear production. Custom 1x1, 2x2, and rib pitch configurations can be developed to match garment specifications.

Production Process

Rib knit is usually produced on circular rib knitting machines with cylinder and dial needles, or on flat knitting machines for specific structures. Yarn feeding, needle selection, and machine gauge help determine rib pitch, fabric weight, and stretch performance. After knitting, the fabric goes through scouring, dyeing, finishing, and heat setting may be added for spandex or synthetic blends. Lab dips or buyer swatches guide color matching, and finished fabric is checked for width, GSM, shrinkage, and stretch recovery before shipment.
